The product is easy to use. It definitely gets hotter faster than my old coil type cook top.It is much easier to clean because it does not have the gaps for debris to fall into like with a coil style cook top. The looks are also attractive and fit well on my counter top.I noticed that it gave off a faint smell during the first couple times of use. This went away after a few uses. The housing gets hot so I use a pot holder to move the unit if I have to move it before it cools down. The power is good enough to get up to cooking temperatures quickly, but boiling a pot of water for pasta or soup would take a long time. This is ideal for pan frying or slowly bringing something to a boil or keeping something at a simmer.
THINGS I DID NOT LIKEThis item arrived well-packaged, but to my surprise, there was NO instruction booklet or warranty card inside at all. So, I have no idea what the warranty is, or if there even is one. And, it came from China, so I have no idea who even to contact, or where, if it malfunctions. That is a big issue. Maybe the manufacturer will read this and send me an instruction booklet and warranty card?QUESTIONABLE THINGSOn the top of each hot plate burner was a brief explanation about the first use of the burner and it smoking, which it said is normal for the first time. My unit did NOT smoke at all when I turned it on the highest setting for 3-5 minutes as suggested by the sticker. That made me wonder if it was a returned item. I had to turn the control knob well past the halfway mark to get some good heat coming up, but then it heats quickly. The unit is a bit pricey compared to many, but maybe because it is an infrared heat and you don't have to worry about EMF emissions. It is longer than other units (21.5 inches), so make sure you have enough room on your counter before you buy it.THINGS I LIKE ABOUT ITUnlike most all the other hot plates out there, this one has a nice long cord (44" not counting the prongs that go into the wall on the plug at the end of the cord). That's a good 8-10 inches longer than some other units. That gives you much more flexibility in placing it as it doesn't have to be right by a plug. It also has a smooth glass top for each burner, which I like. In addition to the two control knobs with which you can adjust the heat intensity, there is a third on-off knob in the back of the unit. The body of the unit is a handsome silvery color. But, be careful because it does get hot too.WHAT MADE ME CHOOSE THIS UNIT?What prompted me to buy this unit was the fact that it heats by infrared, which does not give off EMF radiation and because it has smooth glass top burners, each with 900 watts of power and a wide plate. I also like that the glass burner tops are surrounded and sunken into the metal casing, which holds them in place. The last hot plate I had did not have that feature, and after a few years of use, the burner top actually came off. So, when I noticed on the photos that the burner plate was surrounded by metal casing, that was a big plus for me.There is nothing in the description on Amazon about the length of the cord and Rufus the A.I. was clueless too. A.I.s are actually stupid and only know what is programmed into them. I really needed a long cord, so I was pleasantly surprised when I saw the length and thickness of it. So, so far I'm good with this unit, but I've only cooked with it once so far. You can get the rest of the details you need in the product description on the Amazon listing.
We are remodeling our kitchen and will be without a range for a month or more. This two-burner hot plate is allowing us to stir-fry, sauté, heat, boil, etc., anything that we could do on our range. It heats up reasonably quickly and gets hot enough to accomplish what we need. It is easy to clean. The temperature control is a dial without tick marks or numbers, but just a widening line that goes from narrow to wide to indicate increasing temperature settings, so we just have to guess where to set it for different levels of heat (at least until we get more used to it).
Recently I had a kitchen renovation and was without any appliances for 5 weeks. This worked surprisingly well. It has an on/off rotational dial in the back along with the two dials in the front. The burners are 8 inches approximately and a couple of times I used an 11 inch Scanpan on it to make a burger, so larger pans work on it. The ability to boil water for coffee or anything else was fast and the stove's glass top is very easy to clean, along with the stainless steel. Its a good-looking unit and I think may come in handy sometime later during the Holiday season. As far as temperature control, turning it down to a simmer or up high is very predictable. Good product.
Works great! Only used it once so far, it heats up nicely, but temperature control response isn't as quick as induction cooktop (which is to be expected). It's very beautiful and easy to clean, doesn't take up too much counter space, and works with any kind of pan! I used cast iron on it and it scratched the glass surface so be careful not to slide your pans around if they have a rough bottom. Comes with a 12 month defect warranty, I am pleased!
